Unity Foundation Honors the Memory of Dirk Dirksen Executive Producer of "Positive Spin" and Director of Local Programs and Projects for Unity Foundation On June 7th and 8th, 2007, Unity Foundation's production staff honored the memory of Dirk Dirksen, Executive Producer of the "Positive Spin" television program and Director of Local Programs and Projects for the Foundation. Unity Foundation's staff provided the Production Management for Dirk Fest, a two day music festival and tribute to Dirk Dirksen (AKA the "Pope of Punk"), for his role as the central promoter and emprissario of the Punk Scene in San Francisco. Through his clubs, the Mabuhay Gardens and the On Broadway he promoted literally thousands of young bands in the Punk genre. Kathy Peck, Executive Director of H.E.A.R. (Hearing Education and Awareness for Rockers) was the Producer and driving force that made this special tribute possible. We are grateful to her for her commitment of time, energy and tireless dedication to honoring the memory and accomplishments of our dear friend Dirk. He was a mentor and a hero to hundreds of young bands; and a role model whose selfless devotion to the children and families in his local community, in the Mission District of San Francisco, was an inspiration to everyone. We will all miss him and be forever grateful for the many gifts he has bestowed on our community..
