| In 1975 the seeds
of Unity Foundation were firmly planted in the soil of Golden
Gate Park, with the presentation of the first San Francisco Unity
Fair. On September 27th and 28th of that year, forty-five nonprofit
organizations, an array of multicultural performers, the Jefferson
Starship, the Grateful Dead, and 40,000 to 50,000 people gathered
in Golden Gate Park's Lyndley Meadows to celebrate unity. |

In early 1976, Shoot for the Stars Productions,
one of the two producing organizations of the Unity Fair decided
to create Unity Foundation as a means to build upon the success
of the first Unity Fair. On September 30th, 1976, Unity Foundation
was established with the mission of promoting world peace, cooperation,
and unity. The Foundation accomplishes its nonprofit purpose
through the presentation of special cultural and educational
events, local programs and projects for children and youth, media
campaigns, and the utilization of interactive communications
technologies.
In the latter part of the 1970s, Unity Foundation produced San
Francisco Unity Fairs II, III, and IV. The Foundation also co-produced
the 1977 Lesbian and Gay Freedom Day Celebration, which was attended
by 250,000 to 300,000 people, making it one of the largest events
in the City's history. In the 1980s, Unity Foundation expanded
its nonprofit work of promoting world peace, cooperation, and
unity by setting up an office in Los Angeles. During this decade
the Foundation produced, and/or provided, major production services
for some of the most significant events in San Francisco, Los
Angeles, and New York City. The 1990s was a decade of both international
special events and media campaigns, and local programs and projects
in the Mission District of San Francisco. During Unity Foundation's
25 year history well over a million people have attended special
events produced by the foundation and more than 450 million people
have been reached through Unity Foundation's media campaigns.
All of Unity Foundation's special cultural and educational events,
media campaigns, and local programs and projects are designed
to create greater understanding, respect and appreciation for
people of all races, cultures, lifestyles, and generations within
the Human Family.
Unity Foundation's Goal is to bring together the Human Family
into a state of unity with itself and with the Earth, through
the use of creative arts, education, and communications technologies.
