The program's host, Bill McCarthy, introduces segments on local and national concerns. UN and Foreign Affairs correspondent Kim Weichel introduces segments covering International issues. The international portion of the program has included special presentations on the UN and interviews with participants in the State of the World Forum.

Segments of the show focus upon such topics as:
  • Solutions to local, national, and international problems;
  • Programs and projects to build sustainable communities;
  • Youthful perspectives on creating a better world;
  • Innovative voices in the performing and visual arts;
  • Positive uses of new communications technology.

"Positive Spin" airs nationally on FreeSpeechTV on the DISH Satellite Network, approximately 10 times each month. The show also airs on cable stations in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York City and Chicago. Public Service Announcements promoting non-profit organizations that work to create positive social change in the world. The show's goal is to provide global audiences with a media forum for people and organizations who offer positive, upbeat news stories and constructive, innovative programs for creating a better world. We plan to accomplish this goal by reaching out around the world through the Internet; building alliances with prominent people in the media who have a positive programming focus; and collaborating with other positive media vehicles to create a Positive News Network.
